Abuom Congregation of Taifa District Presby, Ghana

ESTABLISHMENT OF THE PREACHING POST

This Abuom-Kwabenya preaching post of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana was formed by the New Achimota District Bible Studies and Prayer Group (BSPG).

The group was led by their President Bro. Ernest K. Asamoah. On the 27th March, 2010, the President and Bro. Daniel Tei Ahuanor made a survey at the Kwabenya Abuom Junction and its environs with the view to establish a preaching post and to determine the jurisdiction of the new preaching post.

Each local of the BSPG presented two members each to commence house-to house evangelism. The house- to house evangelism lasted for three months.

THE CRUSADE

On the 16th to 18th September, 2010, the district and national BSPG Cinema Van team jointly organized a crusade in the community. About Two Hundred and Forty Three Adults were spoken to and gave their lives to Christ.

FIRST SERVICE

To the glory of God, the newly planted church had her first forenoon service on 19th September, 2010 in an uncompleted building. In attendance were 8 adults and twenty three children. An evening prayer meeting was instituted on 16th December, 2010 to meet the spiritual needs of the members.

RELOCATION

During the course of time, the meeting place of the church was relocated to the residence of Cat. Atiobe of the Ebenezer Congregation at Ashaley Botwe. Bro. E.K. Asamoah because the caretaker of the church and was assisted by Bros. Daniel Tei Ahuanor, Samuel Ofosu Yeboah and Dominic Owusu and Sister Faustina Asabea. In December of 2011, Catechist Seth Obiri-Mante was appointed as the first Catechist in charge of this Preaching Post.

ACQUISITION OF LAND

In March, 2015, the New Achimota District of the PCG financially assisted the Preaching Post in the form of loan to the tune of Sixty Thousand Ghana Cedis to acquire two plots of land for a permanent site. It was worth mentioning that this assistance was made possible by the District Minister Re. Felicia Adu Kumi and Rev. Brandford Yeboah. God bless them.
