Faith in God
And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
There is power in faith and it is an instrument that the Lord uses to save us. Without faith we cannot please God. You can attend all the churches you want to but may not find results because of lack of faith.
This centurion had faith in the healing power of Jesus Christ and so he could even believe that just a word from him, would save his servant. Are we willing to believe the word of God? If only we will do so, we will experience Growth in our walk with God.
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
The woman with the issue of the blood had faith enough to believe that, if only she could touch the hem of Jesus’ garment she would be saved.
Some people decide to go to other gods for solution because they do not have faith in God. Others also decide to change churches because they lack faith. We fail to realize that God is everywhere so most times it is doubts that hinders our miracles.
We need to keep in mind that God who is the creator of the universe is a God of impossibilities. He is able to do things that we cannot even imagine so we must have faith in his word concerning every situation that we are going through. It is the faith we have that moves the hand of God.
The centurion knew that distance was not a barrier to Jesus. He recognized that even he with an earthly authority could command and it will be done how much more Jesus who has all authority in the world. This means he had faith in the words of Jesus.
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
With this assurance in scripture, wait on God because His word will be fulfilled concerning every situation in your life.
Without the word there is nothing we can do. The word of God carries power and authority.
For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
The life of a Christian is likened to an athlete who is running on a track. When he sins, he goes off the track but the moment he decides to look into the word of God, with faith, he is corrected and brought back onto the track.
