History of Grace Congregation, North Taifa


The North Taifa Presbyterian Church now known as Presbyterian Church of Ghana Grace Congregation was the first church established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Taifa Congregation.

The church held its meetings from one of the classrooms of the Bethel Methodist School located at Norht Taifa having sought approval from the schools authorities.

The first worship service was held on 4th April, 1993. It was attended by 14 adults made up of 9 females and 5 males. The sermon was delivered by Mr. George Ankomah. The Children’s service recorded attendance of 17 children.


Mr. Patrick Ntoni Sasu was appointed the caretaker of the church and introduced to the congregation on the 27th August, 1995 by Cat. Zac Obeng-Hinneh and Mr. William Benaye Sasu Catechist and Senior Presbyter of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Taifa Congregation respectively.


On 29th May, 1994, the first communion was administered by Rev. E. O. Charway. The Church organized its first revival service from 22nd to 29th November, 1994 under the theme ‘Christian living; A life for all time’. The speaker was Pastor Addo of the Living Word Ministries.


On 6th August 1995, a special service was organized in the church to raise funds for the  purchase of a plot of land for a building project to enable the church have its own permanent place of worship. The project was completed in no time and the church relocated from the Bethel Methodist school to its new place of worship.

In the year 2010, after completing its second building, the church moved from its old place of worship to its current location.

On 24th August, a ceremony was held under the auspices of the District Minister, Rev. Felicia Adu Kumi to rename the church to its current name ‘Presbyterian ┬áChurch of Ghana, Grace Congregation, North Taifa’.

The church has been growing from strength to strength both numerically and spiritually. The current registered membership is 372 with 240 females and 132 males. It has 140 registered children in the Children’s Ministry.


The following agents also have served the church over the period; Rev. Godfred Asante Bamfo, Rev. comfort Solace Odame, Rev. Ramseyer Obeng Danso, Cat. Ebenezer appiah and Cat. Zac Obeng Hinneh.


As of the year 2015, the church has been under the leadership of Rev. Kingsley Kweku Gyekye, Cat. Zac Obeng Hinneh, Mr. Ebenezer Sakyi Bansah (Senior Presbyter) and Mr. Stephen Nyarko (Session Clerk).
